An up-to-date computer system or console, and an Internet connection, are all that you need to get yourself started in the world of online gaming. Either is good for the purpose, so which one you choose is really down to personal preference. The most important thing that you need to do when readying yourself to become a member of the online gaming community is to sit down and review the plethora of sites out there on the Internet that offer online gaming and decide which one has the most features and games that might be of interest to you, both at the moment and in the foreseeable future, as your needs, wants and desires change. There's no need to load yourself down with too much information and too many details though as, after all, gaming is meant to be fun!

Once you have the necessary hardware, it's actually very easy to jump straight in and start playing an online game straight away. In fact, that's probably the best approach - first try some games out, work out your likes and dislikes, and make a note of any problems you come across, and then go seeking the advice of others from websites and forums later.
